The first time I made them fairly large, the second time I made them smaller to take to work and share. The smaller size was definitely better for distribution, but I think the crispy-to-chewy ratio was better on the bigger size. Really it’s a difference of “delicious” and “a tiny bit more delicious.”

Stacy, the addition of orange rind was inspired. Made them tonight for a potluck dinner and everybody raved. I made smaller cookies so ended up with 5 dozen instead of two. Easier to spread around the goodness . Thanks!

The cookies themselves are quite sweet, just to warn you, but I love the contrast of the salt on top to temper the sugar a bit.

I’m not sure how I missed the recipe on Smitten Kitchen when she posted it, but as soon as I saw it, I went and got butter out to soften. Hope you enjoy them!

I don’t always have access to an oven but for the next week i can raid my neighbour’s place. i love oatmeal in cookies. maybe i might get my lady love on to it. she loves baking more than i do.
